Clo-Sur P.A.D.™ (Pressure Applied Dressing) An effective, non invasive approoach to hemostasis.
The Clo-Sur P.A.D.™ (Pressure Applied Dressing) accelerates hemostasis, resulting in better patient outcomes and a more cost-effective utilization of catheterization lab personnel. Developed by Scion Cardio-Vascular, Inc. the Clo-Sur P.A.D.™ uses the proven cell binding activity of Polyprolate™ as a hemostatic agent. The porous Clo-Sur P.A.D.™ has been carefully designed to maximize surface area and speed the natural clotting process. As a non-invasive approach, the Clo-Sur P.A.D.™ is easy to apply to the puncture site. It reduces clinician hold time and allows patients to be moved into a recovery area and discharged more rapidly in most cases.
The Closure Problem Closing the puncture site is a time-consuming and uncomfortable process in most catheterization procedures: Patients must wait in a recovery area setting for several hours before hemostasis and ambulation is achieved. Clinicals must spend a lengthy time appliying digital pressure to the puncture site. Safety issues for patients must be adressed Performance of current closure devices is less than ideal. Easy of use-many closure devices can only be used by trained and experienced clinicals. Cost-closure devices now add significantly to a laboratory´s costs.
Application: Hold pressure proximal to puncture site. Place Clo-Sur P.A.D. over puncture site and remove catheter. After removing catheer, release proximal pressure. Apply continuous pressure on the Clo-Sur P.A.D., until hemostasis is achieved. Apply dressing over the Clo-Sur P.A.D. and remove in 54 hours.
